Gary L. Pugh, the founder and owner of Alternative Building Concepts, Inc. is a licensed contractor who has decades of experience in “green” construction and sustainable building practices. ABC, Inc. offers environmentally friendly design, construction and consultation for residential projects as well as light commercial and industrial.
Alternative Building Concepts, Inc.’s specialty is the use and installation of Structural Insulated Panels (SIP’s), which are highly energy efficient structural panels that have a high thermal value, great strength and superior durability. The use of SIP’s greatly reduces the amount of lumber used and therefore trees cut. It also considerably shortens the building time and reduces job-site waste. Gary built the first SIP home in Sonoma County in 1988 and is one of only two Certified SIP Installers located in California—and one of only 23 in the entire US. Certified SIP Installers have been educated and trained in the most up to date technology and advanced applications for the installation of the SIP panels. Gary is a Certified Green Building Professional (www.builditgreen.org), a member of the National Association of Remodelers (NARI) and is the Chairperson of the Educational Committee for SIPA (Structural Insulated Panel Association).
