David Kato knew early in life that he had a passion for design and a connectedness with nature. He discovered that his creativity was expressed best by using land to create art. Mr. Kato worked for many years at his father’s renowned Kato Garden Center, learning all aspects of the business. He put his innate ability to work in 1983 when he became sole proprietor of David Kato Landscapes. His wife Vicki joined him in 1987 to form Katoscapes, Inc.

Mr. Kato has had the opportunity to design and build over 75 award-winning residential landscapes. These successes fueled his desire to develop an even closer relationship with the land and to study Feng Shui – the art of balancing elements in the environment to create a positive flow of energy. Mr. Kato carefully analyzes each project site and takes a sensitive, holistic approach to the landscapes he creates. The principals of Feng Shui can also be applied to the interior of your home to bring it into harmony with the land outside. The result is an environment that both looks beautiful and creates a sense of well-being.
